SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 26

Commemorating the 250th birthday of Marlinton, West Virginia.

Whereas, Marlinton, West Virginia, is the location of the first United States settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains; and
Whereas, Marlin and Sewell built the first cabin in the Pocahontas County woods in 1749; and
Whereas, Marlinton has great historical significance to its residents and to the residents of the State of West Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby commemorates the 250th birthday celebration of Marlinton; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Mayor of Marlinton.
