SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 43
(By Senators Wooton and Bailey)
Congratulating the Woodrow Wilson High School boys' basketball team
for winning the 1997 state AAA championship.
Whereas, The Woodrow Wilson High School boys' basketball team
ended the season with twenty-three wins and two losses, earning it
a chance to participate in the 1997 state championship playoffs;
and
Whereas, The Woodrow Wilson High School boys' basketball team
participated in and won the 1997 state AAA championship, bringing
the championship title to the school for the thirteenth time; and
Whereas, Coaches David Barksdale, Butch Freeman, Ron Kidd,
James Lewis and Click Bandy; managers Amanda Keaton, Gary Williams
and David Sparks; and athletic director Nelson Spencer, took great
pride in leading their team to victory; and
Whereas, The athletic ability and outstanding sportsmanship of
each of the team players; Ted Green, Derek Jones, Eddie Leisure,
Joey Pence, Duke Thompson, Bryan Watts, James Brandley, Tamar Slay,
Matt Fitzwater, Travis Hunt, Drew Smith, Eric Griffith, Gary Clay
and Brad Lambert, helped to make winning the 1997 state AAA
championship a reality; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates the Woodrow Wilson High School boys' basketball team for an outstanding 1997 basketball
season and for winning the state AAA championship; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Miller Hall, principal of Woodrow
Wilson High School;, coaches David Barksdale, Butch Freeman, Ron
Kidd, James Lewis and Click Bandy;, along with and athletic director Nelson
Spencer.
