SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 9

Requiring that the laws of the state of West Virginia
regarding the minimum speed allowance for motor vehicles
utilizing the left lane of all four-lane highways
throughout the state be enforced.
Whereas, A motor vehicle operating at speeds below the
minimum allowance in a passing lane on our four-lane highway
systems impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic;
and
Whereas, A motor vehicle operating at speeds below the
minimum allowance in a passing lane is detrimental to the
safety of our citizens; and
Whereas, It is the duty of our law-enforcement officers
to enforce the laws of our state in order to compel any
motorists to operate their motor vehicles in a safe manner
while on our highways and to drive their vehicles no less than
the minimum nor more than the maximum amount of speed in order to protect the safety and welfare of our citizens; therefore,
be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the law-enforcement officers of the state of West
Virginia are hereby directed to enforce the laws of the state
regarding the minimum speed allowance on our four-lane highway
systems; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby requested to
forward a copy of this resolution to the secretary of
transportation, the superintendent of the division of public
safety and the sheriff's departments of the fifty-five
counties in West Virginia.
