A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18B-4-9, relating to
prohibiting cloning human embryos in state medical schools,
colleges or universities; and providing dismissal from
employment for this conduct.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §18B-4-9, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 4. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION.
§18B-4-9. Cloning human embryos prohibited.
State medical schools or universities or colleges may not
participate in, fund or use facilities for or be involved in any
way with the cloning of any human embryo. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be terminated from employment
with the medical school, university or college where this
prohibited act took place.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit cloning human
embryos in state medical schools, colleges or universities; and
dismissal from employment for violation of section.
