HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 16

Requesting the Governor to designate the week of August first through August seventh as Marine Corps League Week and August fourth as Marine Corps League Day each year;

Whereas, West Virginians over the years have chosen to serve in the United States Marine Corps in large numbers; and
Whereas, West Virginians have served in the Marine Corps with distinction and many have given their full measure of devotion to their state and country; and
Whereas, There needs to be a symbol of recognition for the many thousands of West Virginia citizens who are and were Marines; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the West Virginia Department of the Marine Corps League, with seventeen detachments located throughout the State and consisting of nearly a thousand members and all active West Virginia marines be honored by designating August first through August seventh as Marine Corps League Week, and by designating August fourth as Marine Corps League Day, beginning in the year two thousand one and each year thereafter; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor and the Marine Corps League.
