HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 42

(By Mr. Speaker, Mr. Kiss and Delegates Campbell,

Mahan, McGraw, R. M. Thompson, Susman and Canterbury)

Directing the West Virginia department of transportation to designate a portion of Interstate 64 as the "West Virginia I-64 HIGH TECH CORRIDOR" and erect appropriate signage.

Whereas, the area surrounding the I64 corridor in Southern West Virginia is in need of economic development and job creation; and
Whereas, technology is becoming an increasingly important part of the national economy and is developing many new jobs each year; and
Whereas, technology businesses are already located along this corridor including in Raleigh, Summers, and Greenbrier Counties; and
Whereas, future development of this type is well suited to this corridor and has been welcomed by citizens in this area; and
Whereas, the Virginia Technology Corridor borders this corridor to the East; and
Whereas, the designation of I-64 from the I-77 interchange in Raleigh County to the state line in Greenbrier County, as the "WV I64 HIGH TECH CORRIDOR" will promote the continuing development of the technology industry in this area and further improve the quality of life of West Virginians living in this area; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature of West Virginia hereby directs the West Virginia department of transportation to so designate the portion of Interstate 64 from the Interstate 77 interchange in Raleigh County to the state line in Greenbrier County as the "West Virginia I-64 High Tech Corridor" and to erect signs so designating this corridor at each county line and specifying on this sign a phone number of the State Development Office for those interested to call.
