Requesting the West Virginia Division of Highways to name the alley
across from Duncan Fork at Myrtle, West Virginia in Mingo
County "Lee Dempsey, Jr. Drive."

Whereas, Lee Dempsey, Jr. owned and operated Dempsey Grocery
Store in Myrtle for forty-four years and was Postmaster at Myrtle
for the same length of time, until his death in 1987
; and
Whereas, Lee Dempsey, Jr. was well known throughout the
community and throughout Mingo County

Whereas,
Mr. Dempsey was a community supporter and friend to
many in Mingo County;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby request the West Virginia Division
of Highways to name the alley across from Duncan Fork at Myrtle,
West Virginia in Mingo County
"Lee Dempsey, Jr. Drive"
; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner is requested to have
made and be placed, at either end of the alley, signs identifying the alley as "Lee Dempsey, Jr. Drive"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of
Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways, and
the County Commission of Mingo County.
