Whereas, More than one thousand five hundred students with disabilities have been identified as attending postsecondary schools and institutions of higher education in West Virginia; and
Whereas, Less than two percent of the students in colleges in West Virginia have been identified with disabilities, as compared to 12 to 14 percent nationwide, and our purpose is to do all possible in assisting these students; and
Whereas, The State of West Virginia desires to do all that it can do to further the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, as well as other laws, including state statutes relating to students with disabilities; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, two thousand two, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report, and to draft any necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
