HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 27
(By Delegates Barker, Eldridge, Ellis, Hrutkay and Rodighiero)
Commemorating the life of Dennie Lee Hill, former member of the
House of Delegates from Boone County.
Whereas, Dennie Lee Hill was born on October 8, 1925, in Seth
in Boone County, West Virginia to the late Dennie Edison and
Gertrude Hill; and
Whereas, Mr. Hill served his country during World War II in the
United States Navy where he served honorably and from which he was
honorably discharged; and
Whereas, Mr. Hill was a prominent business leader who founded
the Ferrell & Hill Insurance Agency - while, additionally, working
as a real estate developer throughout the State of West Virginia;
and
Whereas, Mr. Hill served honorably and with distinction in this
hallowed chamber for twelve years from 1957 to 1970; and
Whereas, Mr. Hill was a fervent subscriber to the Christian
Faith and his life works exemplify the Christian ideals to which he
adhered; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That while regret is hereby expressed at the passing of Dennie Lee Hill, a simultaneous expression of celebration also follows for
this man's exemplary life in which he conducted himself with
endearing virtue and honor while rendering service to country and
community alike - serving variously as soldier, entrepreneur,
statesman and bedrock Christian; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the close surviving
family members of Mr. Hill including his loving wife, Judith Hill,
his two sons David Hill and R. Edison Hill, his sister Helen
Ferrell of Madison, West Virginia and his stepsister Terressa Brock
of Pensacola, Florida, all in care of the Law Office of R. Edison
Hill in Charleston, West Virginia.
