HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 37
(By Delegates Caputo, Longstreth and Manchin)
Designating the month of March, as "National Athletic Training
Month."
Whereas, Certified athletic trainers have a long history of
providing quality health care for athletes and those engaged in
physical activity based on specific task, knowledge and skills
acquired through their nationally regulated educational processes;
and
Whereas, Certified athletic trainers help in the prevention of
injuries; and
Whereas, Certified athletic trainers provide recognition,
evaluation and aggressive treatment for injuries that are sustained
during physical activity; and
Whereas, Certified athletic trainers provide rehabilitation for
injuries to help get people back to their sports, workouts and
daily routines faster than ever before; and
Whereas, Certified athletic trainers provide health care
administration, education and guidance; and
Whereas, The National Athletic Trainers' Association represents
and supports 30,000 members of the athletic training profession employed in professional sports; colleges and universities; high
schools; clinic and hospitals; corporate and industrial settings;
and military branches; and
Whereas, Leading organizations concerned with athletic training
and health care have joined together in a common desire to raise
public awareness of the importance of the athletic training
profession and to emphasize the importance of quality health care
within the aforementioned settings; and
Whereas, Such an effort will improve health care for athletes
and those engaged in physical activity and promote certified
athletic trainers as allied health professionals; and
Whereas, The people of West Virginia should learn more about
the importance of athletic training and all the help it can give to
those injured during physical activity; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
The month of March, is designated "National Athletic Training
Month"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to John Higgins, David
Pryor and the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
