A BILL to amend article two, chapter twenty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
by adding thereto a new section, designated section
thirty-b, relating to education in safe handling of firearms
and bows and arrows; certified instructors; volunteer
certified instructor; credit toward purchase of hunting
license, stamps or endorsements; and legislative rules.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter twenty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
thirty-b, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. WILDLIFE RESOURCES.
§20-2-30b. Volunteer certified instructors of hunter safety courses; credit toward purchase of hunting
license, stamps and endorsements.
Any unpaid volunteer who is certified as a hunter safety
course instructor by the director under the provisions of section
thirty-a of this article is entitled to earn credit toward the
purchase of a hunting license and any stamps or endorsements
thereon for service as an instructor. The director shall
promulgate rules in accordance with the provisions of article
three, chapter twenty-nine-a of this code to carry out the
provisions of this section and to provide for credits to be
earned based on the number of students taught and the time
expended instructing.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to allow credit toward
the purchase of hunting licenses, stamps and endorsements for
volunteer certified instructors of hunter safety courses.
