SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 47

Requesting the Division of Highways name the bridge on Route 65 crossing Elk Creek near Delbarton, Mingo County, the "Rush T. White Bridge".

Whereas, Rush T. White, a native of Mingo County who was born March 7, 1919, on Elk Creek, paid the ultimate price in his service to his nation during World War II; and
Whereas, As a crew member, Rush T. White perished when a German submarine sank the U. S. S. Cythera on May 2, 1942; and
Whereas, The name of Rush T. White, Storekeeper, Second Class, United States Navy, is inscribed on the tablet of the Missing in Action or Buried at Sea in New York City. His name is also engraved on the West Virginia Veterans Memorial; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways name the bridge on Route 65 crossing Elk Creek near Delbarton, Mingo County, the "Rush T. White Bridge" as a lasting tribute to a distinguished West Virginia native who paid the ultimate price in service to his nation during World War II; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Division of Highways and the family of the late Rush T. White.
