SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21

(By Senators Boley, Deem, Sprouse, Minear, McKenzie,

Facemyer, Anderson and Ross)

Requesting West Virginia's congressional delegation support a tax relief plan.

Whereas, Federal taxes are the highest they have ever been during peacetime in the United States; and
Whereas, America's taxpayers should be allowed to keep more of their own money; and
Whereas, Under current tax law, low-income workers often pay the highest marginal tax rates in the United States; and
Whereas, A tax relief plan shall consider the current debt of the United States; and
Whereas, A tax relief plan that contributes to raising the standard of living for all Americans is needed; and
Whereas, A tax relief plan that treats all middle-class families more fairly and encourages entrepreneurship and growth and promotes charitable giving is needed; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby requests West Virginia's congressional delegation support and work to pass a tax relief plan, but the Senate is unaware of the exact terms of the tax relief plan proposed by President George W. Bush; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to West Virginia's congressional delegation and to President George W. Bush.
