SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31

(By Senators Redd, Tomblin, Mr. President, Facemyer, Caldwell, Hunter, Mitchell, Rowe, Plymale, Fanning, Edgell, Bowman, Bailey, Chafin, Prezioso, Jackson, McCabe, Craigo, Unger, Anderson, Helmick, Kessler, Minard, Sharpe, Ross, Oliverio, Sprouse, Burnette, McKenzie, Love and Wooton)

Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the West Virginia Women's Commission.

Whereas, The West Virginia Women's Commission was created in 1977 by an Act of the Legislature; and
Whereas, The important duties of the Commission are to review and study the status of women in West Virginia, to recommend methods of overcoming discrimination against women in public and private employment and to urge women to exercise their civil and political rights; and
Whereas, The Commission promotes effective methods that enable women to develop skills and to continue their education; and
Whereas, The Commission assists with strengthening the home lives of women by directing attention to problems they confront as wives, mothers, homemakers and workers; and
Whereas, The Commission's role is to advise, consult and cooperate with various agencies of state government in the development of activities and programs which are beneficial to women; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the 25th anniversary of the West Virginia Women's Commission; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate representatives of the West Virginia Women's Commission.
