CHARLESTON – Senate Bill 1002, which is a supplemental appropriation bill designed to close the shortfall in the budget for Fiscal Year 2016, completed legislation today. The measure transfers the unexpired balances of accounts in departments throughout the executive and legislative branches, totaling more than $63.7 million:
“I’m pleased to get this much-needed supplemental appropriation passed and sent down to Governor Tomblin,” Senate President Bill Cole, R-Mercer, said. “Taking care of our obligations for this current budget year will help clear the decks to finish the work we were called to Charleston to do, which is to pass a responsible, balanced budget for Fiscal Year 2017 that we hope the Governor will approve.” The Extraordinary Session will continue on Tuesday, May 31. |
