CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Delegate Jill Upson, R-Jefferson, today issued the following statement in response to the state Racing Commission’s rejection of funding for the Charles Town Classic. “I’m deeply disappointed in the commission’s decision today,” Delegate Upson said. “Since 2009, the Charles Town Classic has established itself as one of the most prestigious races of the season. It provides jobs and much-needed tourism dollars to our local economy. The commission’s decision today puts all of that in jeopardy, and I strongly urge them to reconsider their action.”
