Doyle, Brown Meet With Top Justice Aide

Charleston, WV - Jefferson County Delegates John Doyle and Sammi Brown met today with Brian Abraham, general counsel to Gov. Jim Justice, to press the case that Rockwool Manufacturing should not be permitted to construct a factory in Jefferson County.

“We met with General Counsel Abraham with the express intent of vocalizing our county’s mistrust and distaste for this project,” said Delegate Brown. “We made certain that General Counsel Abraham was clear that the overwhelming majority of the people of Jefferson County do not want Rockwool in our midst,” Doyle added.

“It is clear to me that the full breadth of the dynamic in Jefferson County has not been articulated to the governor or to his staff and this meeting was an imperative and urgent step toward true economic and environmental justice, not only for Jefferson County but for all of West Virginia,” Brown stated.

Doyle added, “Not only will Rockwool do serious harm to Jefferson County’s environment, it will do serious harm to Jefferson County’s economy. The 150 jobs at Rockwool could conceivably deprive Jefferson County of 1,000 jobs in agriculture and tourism, some already in our county and some for which we could compete.”

“We need a standard of business practice that is mindful of development for Jefferson County and for the entire state,” Brown concluded.
